Dr. Kim is an associate professor who earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, concentrated on Early Childhood Education, from the University of Maryland, College Park. She currently teaches ECE3560: Creative Expression; ECE3590: Family, School, and Community Collaboration; ECE 3575: International Approaches to Early Care and Learning; and ECE 3313: Preschool Curriculum.

Her research interests focus on the creation of school environment that facilitates the engagement of families, especially minority families, in children's learning. Dr. Kim is a reviewer of the NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) for the ACEI (Association for Childhood Education International), and is a member of the ACEI research committee. She serves the TATE (Teaching and Teacher Education) and the ERR (Educational Research Review) as a manuscript reviewer.
