Rifka Mayani is an Instructor of Business Information Systems, at the Coles College of Business since the past 2 years. Rifka held the position of Assistant Director for Training and Student Support at Kennesaw State University for over 7 years before moving to the faculty position. In this position she was responsible for IT training on all new and supported software for faculty, staff and students, in addition to IT support for all labs on campus. Prior to coming to the United States Rifka was the Advertising Executive for United Colors of Benetton and MEXX for four countries – India, SriLanka, Maldives and Nepal. Rifka is a motor sports enthusiast, having competed in the South Asian Pacific Rallying Championship and driving on the highest motorable roads in the Himalayas Rifka is an Indian classical dancer, teacher and choreographer. She has her own dance school – tandav themes where she trains young children in the traditional Bharatha Natyam art form.

Rifka is originally from Mumbai, India. She came to the United States to pursue her MBA at KSU after having completed her BA in Political Science and a General Law Degree from the University of Mumbai. She is currently pursuing yet another degree – a Masters in Accounting at KSU.

Rifka has had an extensive dance career – she has trained in the traditional Bharatha Natyam Dance form for over 30 years. She has had the opportunity to showcase this art form at several noteworthy occasions both in India and the US. Today she will be demonstrating a small piece from her Bharatha Natyam dance repertoire and also talk to us about a few other dance forms from different parts of India
