Cherie graduated from Kennesaw State University with a BS in Communication with an emphasis in Media Studies, followed by a Masters of Arts in Professional Writing (MAPW) from Kennesaw State. As her thesis, Cherie wrote a memoir entitled “One in a Million: Living Courageously with a Traumatic Brain Injury”. During her time at Kennesaw State, Cherie won several awards, including Best College News Editor (2003) and Best Research Thesis (2004) for Toxic Speech: A Content Analysis of Top 50 Song Lyrics and CHSS Staff Member of the Year Award (2014). Since graduating with her MA, Cherie has published three books and currently works as the Administrative Specialist for the Interdisciplinary Studies Department. Her research interests include animal studies, disability studies and the art of writing.
